The Intertribal Food Sovereignty Summit kicks off August 20, 2018! You won’t want to miss the event that will take you to Indigenous food landscapes in the forest, at the farm, and on the ocean. Visit the maple sugar shack to learn about traditional and modern maplesugaring, craft a berry basket to help you with next year’s harvest, and taste the fruits of the sea cooked over an open hearth fire. A team of Indigenous chefs from the area and abroad will be providing every meal with fresh Indigenous ingredients. Sean Sherman, "The Sioux Chef," has a special banquet dinner planned for summit attendees. Don’t miss an opportunity to hear about his new nonprofit that is poised to revolutionize our regional Indigenous food systems.
If you grow, gather, cook or sell Indigenous foods – this event is for you. If you work in forest, waterway, air, soil or native plant conservation – this event is for you. Join us August 20-23, 2018 at the Pequot Museum in Mashantucket, Connecticut, to meet the other leaders in your field and share the knowledge you keep alive.
